Design Lead
Goals
After some early success, econommi wanted to reach more people by creating its own investment platform. My job was to design a user-friendly app that would:
✅ Let customers track their investments easily.
✅ Allow people to invest in car leases through an online marketplace.
✅ Help customers use their investments to get loans or lease assets.
Challenges
econommi needed to attract new investors while keeping its existing users happy. However, they didn’t have much information about their users, and we only had four months to design and develop the platform. This meant we didn’t have time for in-depth user research.
Research & Approach
Since we couldn’t interview users, we studied other investment platforms to see what worked well. We noticed that:
🔹 Users liked being able to sort and filter investments.
🔹 Clean, simple designs with rounded edges made platforms feel more welcoming.
🔹 Numbers should be clearly labeled to avoid confusion.
Using these insights, we held workshops with company leaders to figure out the best way to design the app. We planned out how users would move through the app, what information needed to be included, and how to make everything easy to use.
Things that users can sort by
No option to filter portfolio items
The Final Product
Users can track their investments and find new opportunities.
Users can take out loans or leases using their investments.
My Impact
Even though we couldn’t fully build out every design, my work laid the foundation for econommi’s future success. The company’s CEO and COO both recognized the value of our designs, and thanks to our work, econommi secured more funding.
Looking back
Leading the design team at econommi was a great learning experience. It helped me grow as a designer and sharpen my leadership skills. While I wish we had more time to understand user needs, this project taught me how to build a product from scratch (0 to 1) and make the most of a fast-paced environment.
